how do you hook up a pigtail for the trailer lights?

go to an auto parts store and they have a kit that just plugs in and all you need to do is connect the ground to the truck. The kit is a weather pack so water won't enter the system. It'snot much money for it..then all you have to do is plug into the trailer and go. the connection is on the left side of the truck on back end. the kit should show you where.
