The engine on my 96 Blazer became overheated and when I let it cool down it ran again but real, real rough and barely. It was knocking loudly and would not go over 20-30 miles an hour and not without alot of effort/noise. When I took it into the garage, they told me the pulled the engine plug and alot of metal came out. So they told me the engine would need to be replaced.
So my questions are:
1) Is that realistically probably the only option
2) if so, any estimates on what it would take to replace the engine on a 96 Blazer LT (4WD). Would be looking to try to do this as cheap as possible given the age of the vehicle.
3) If the cost associated with 2 is too high for me, what suggestions would you have concerning what to do with the vehicle?
Thanks you very much for you help on this.
