1992 Chevy Blazer Rear Defrost

I was wondering how you hook up a rear defrost? I have tried power on both sides of the grid and power on one side and ground on the otherside of the grid

I'm not sure I understand. If you have power and a ground, it should work unless there is an internal break in the defroster.
