im confused why my battery dont stay charged while the car is running, yet i can leave it connected and the car will always start? i pull either of the cables off and the car dies out? i had the altenator tested and it is good please help thanks alot

Read the open voltage of the battery before you start it should be 12.4 volts or better. Now start it should read between 13.5 - 15.5 volts, if not either the alternator is not charging the battery or the battery is not taking the charge.
