When the engine gets hot the oil pressure goes down and the check gauges light comes on when at idle at a redlight. I have to put the transmission on neutral and keep the idle up to maintain oil pressure. Would replacing the oil pump fix the issue or would it be something more complicated like crank bearings or sensor?

Hi there,

you first should get the oil pressure checked with a mechanical gauge, this will give you a true reading of engine oil pressure, check at cold idle, hot idle and hot 2000rpm, report the readings here.

Do you have any type of engine knocking noises? Check the oil pressure with a mechanical gauge if normal replace the oil pressure switch abnormal could mean oil pump and engine bearings
