1995 Chevy Beretta, 150,000 miles, V8 engine.
When on the "heater" setting, the car only blows out warm air when the car is moving fast. While idiling or moving slow, the engine temperature gauge goes way up and the air blows cold. When moving fast, the gauge drops and the air blows warm, not hot, warm.

check your fluid and check the belt. if the belt slips it does not circulate enough fluid when ideling the vehicle will get hot, when you are moving then the water pump will go faster even with a slipping belt
giving you more heat
