Crank Sensor

My son has a 1991 Beretta and it will start sometimes and then other times it won't even crank, we have replaced the starter and battery. A person that worked at a garage that worked on this car before told us that it sounds like the crank sensor. I was needing information on where it is located and how hard they are to put in. Also do I need any special tools? This isn't the original engine but is just like the one taken out. Thanks in advance for your help.

Thank you for the picture but I still can't find it as I see the transmission on the drivers side and the belts on the passenger side. Also does it sound for sure it could be the crank sensor? As the car will start fine and then there are times it will hesitate and then start and then other times all it does is click. I have tried to get a local mechanic to look at it but haven't had any luck and I need to get this fixed. Also what all is involved in putting in a crank sensor if that is what it is. The engine is definitely a 2.2. I think I can do the job with alittle more help on what I am looking for and explanation on what all is involved in putting it in.
