I need to replace the belt tentioner on a 95 chevy beretta. It has a v-6. The spring housing broke. The bolt is still attached to the engine. Very tight fit. I removed the plastic housing around the passenger side wheel wheel. Best practices?

It is a tight fit. I use a long thin tool that is designed for removing tension from the tensionier to r&r belts. That way I have the reach and leverage. If you don't have access to such a tool, what you are doing is the best way to access it.
