at speed, 60-mph or so , on freeway, L.A., 101 northbound , in broad left hand sweep to head west front of car goes into distrubing shaking. seems like tire went flat, but didin't. seller firmly warned me of this condition so no sweat, ... is this just shocks? street driving is rough like shocks are worn out., or is something more serious involved?

sounds like a wheel bearing, jack up the front end on and wiggle the tires, if theres excessive play it should be replaced.
