My daughters car has a short in the wiring that is causing the car not to start, when trying to turn over the engine gas is leaking in the oil pan, air filter and on the ground. I have been told it is almost impossible to find the short. The car has always used up fuses faster than intended. Is this car a lost cause?

WHat fuse is bad, and how is gas leaking everywhere? Based on what you are saying, it sounds like the fuel pressure regulator is bad. Have you checked fuel pump pressure and the regulator? Here is a how to for checking:

Let me know what you find. Also, the pressure gauge you will need can be obtained at a parts store. Most will lend or rent them.
