How do I check the voltage output of a generator at the generator while it is installed in the vehicle.vehicle is a 1950 model

connect your volt meter on the armature wire(the big one or the one that says "A") run the car about 2000 rpm as generators do not put out to good at idle. If this or the voltage regulator was just changed if you do not polarize it it won't work..
