I have a 2005 Chevy Aveo with 71,000 miles. Recently my car stopped running out of the blue. I took it to a local mechanic friend and am told that it was due to the fact that my timing belt broke, and my valves are shot. They are estimating the overall cost being a couple thousand dollars. Does this price seem reasonable?

It will easily be $1,000 just in repairing the valves and thats if the pistons were not damaged as well. most likely they were, so 2,000 ish is reasonable for this major repair.
