2004 Chevy Aveo Compression

I've lost compression when driving. The RPM has to go higher in order for the transmission to shift gears. I've checked the oil, tranmission fluid and coolant and all seem fine. Any other suggestions? I can't afford a mechanic right now and have some mechanical knowledge and experience.

how do you know you lost compression. did you perform a compression test. what are the results may i ask. give me a little info and i can help you.
