2003 Chevy Avalanche Trouble going over 20

Truck has trouble going over 20mph, won't switch gear, was working fine, then went to get in the next day, and now it just won't go over 20, and revs out, like you press the gas and don't go any where. Please help thanks

Sounds like a possible transmission problem. Is there any warning lights on. May also be a cat converter. Those sometimes feel like a trans mission. Have it looked at right away and let me know what you find out

Thank you for your help. I took it in and they told me that it was a transmission problem. I thought that it might be, but the way it was fine and then it just would not go over 20. Was a shock. This was just hard right around christmas for me. It was alot $2000.00 to fix. I hoped that it was only something simple. I just did not want to get ripped off getting it fixed. But I tried and called around. Thank you for your help.
