2003 Chevy Avalanche Engine Dies

Battery was dead. Had electrical system checked. Showed good except for battery. Had new battery installed. Amp meter drops well below center at low RPM and truck sometimes dies at low RPM. Suggestions?

Would have alternator output checked with new battery
