Drive Train Axles Bearings problem
2002 Chevy Avalanche V8 Front Wheel Drive Automatic

Hello, i am wondering if i can removed the front drive shaft off my truck without hurting anything will i drive it. Does the yoke come out? Can i just leave it in there with out a shaft? When its in 2wd the front drive shaft seems to be locked in....it doesn't spin freely. I've check other GM trucks and they spin freely...I'm wondering what causes that?

You should be fine if you keep it in 2wd. It sounds like it isn't coming out of 4wd. Have you checked to make sure the actuator on the transfer case is getting power to put it into 2wd?
