2002 Chevy Avalanche brake light stay on

2002 Chevy Avalanche V8 Two Wheel Drive Automatic

after towing a trailer and disconnecting the trailer electrical plug from the vehicle the brake lights stay on and will not go off. i disconnected the battery and then reconnected the battery and the brake lights will not go off.

Check the tow hitch electrical connectyor could be shorted out if not check/adjust/replace the brake switch
