Help~ My 1998 Chevy Astro, Automatic, 2 wheel, mileage 173100 is about to go I think.... I have had to replace the fuel pump, radiator and water pump within the last two years and now it is leaking water again but I think there is water leaking from the motor too. I also smell an odor like its the radiator. I have had to keep putting water in the car too because it tends to get close to overheating. The I also hear a knocking or crackly sound especially when going in reverse or barely about to drive forward. Could this be the transmission? or the motor? do you think this is something major? I appreciate any help or advice you can provide. Thank you!

Hi I just wanted to add that these vans have an issue with the intake manifold leaking antifreeze into the motor.

Now I have a question about the knocking sound you stated about having with the van. DOse this happen when the van is cold or when it warms from running. Transmissions usually do not knock, unless you have a bad pressure plate which is not a part of the trans.

let us no how it gose.
