I have recently purchased a 5000lb trailer and am intereseted to learn if I need to install a transmission cooler?

I would. The cooler your trans runs the longer it will last. Heat kills friction plates and friction plates are the things that connect the engine to the rear wheels. Instructions on how to install what ever cooler you go with should be included, never the less I will be glad to help you if you need. But they are pretty easy to install and I'm sure you can do it.....Keep me posted
