2003 Chevy Astro poor gas millage

Van is rated 16mpg city 20mpg highway Im getting average 12.5 mpg which is 60%highway 40%city.I also have a 1999 astro same van same engine also all wheel drive and with that one I average 17mpg.

It could be a problem with an O2 sensor. Have you had the computer scanned for trouble codes? Most nationally recognized parts stores will do it for free. I recommend having it done to see if there are any stored codes.
