If I do nothing to fix the light problem with my abs. I was told that my brakes will work fine but I won't have abs braking is this true. If so how do I turn off the lights.

Most of the time it is just an electrical issue and your regular hydraulic brakes will work normally however it is possible for the ABS system to cause hydraulic issues also. You would be the only one to know if there are any hydraulic issues or not.
As far as putting the light out, no, short of removing to dash to get the bulb out, fixing it is the only way that is going to happen.
