2002 Chevy Astro deep thump noise when braking

When I apply the brakes like when stopping at a red light, after the vehicle stops and I release the brakes, there is a loud, deep thump noise. I checked the spare tire, gas tank and muffler, but they are all tightly secured.

Have you checked the rear brakes to make sure there are no broken springs that may be allowing the shoes to stick?
