Have they no mercy? The ABS light could be coincidental; the amount of work done to the system can also have triggered the light, although it doesn't necessarly mean the tech did anything wrong. By replacing all these parts with new, the ABS computer now has potential new readings from all the sensors--if readings pass or vary from a certain threshold, the lamp will turn on.

That said, I would be curious if the tech who did this work was also the one who looked at the ABS light. If it's not the same, you could ask for the original tech to inspect as you "liked his work." Unfortunately, since the service manager has already committed to an ABS module as the problem (at over a grand, no less) it will be a major loss of face if he or she changes their mind and now I'd be wary of any information they deliver.

I would recommend telling the dealer you appreciate the work they have done, but you'd like to get a second opinion on the ABS as you've never had any issues with it before. Then find an independent shop that has a tech II (factory gm scanner) or another good scanner, along with an excellent tech, to diagnose the true state of affairs. It is possible the module is bad, but if your instincts tell you something isn't right, get a second opinion.
