Engine Mechanical problem
2000 Chevy Astro 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic 135K miles

Engine blew out the seal on my oil filter. Was fine since oil change 3 months ago. Put new filter in and oil and it blew it out again. Something must be blocked in the oil circ system. It has a oil cooler. Could that be blocked and cause this?

Check the mating surface, you might find the seal from an oil filter stuck to it, if the pressure were too high it should blow the filter apart, not the seal.

I looked for this problem of an old seal left behind, but no it is a nice clean surface of the oil cooler adapter that the filter screws on to. 'Something must be blocking the oil pump presure. I did not notice what the gauge said for oil pressure. It happened quickly.

Well if it's higher than 60-80, then the pressure relief valve is not working. Pump needs to be replaced.
