1999 Chevy Astro Quit running with no warning will not rest

Engine Performance problem
1999 Chevy Astro 6 cyl All Wheel Drive Automatic

My 1999 Chevy Astro suddenly quit runnina and will not start. My husband suspects the fuel pump. But also just after it quit I could not shift out of park. The tow truck driver tried with same results and suddenly it shifted for him. Could this have something to do with the engine not starting .

Could be the transmission range switch/Neutral safety switch out of position and needs adjustment Could also be a fuel pressure problem check it out.
