1999 Chevy Astro P1870 code - hard shift from 1st to 2nd

I just replaced the valve body. Now the hard shift from 1st to 2nd happens even when the vehicle is cold. I no longer get the P1870 code, in fact I don't receive an error code at all. What could the problem be?

Have you checked the shift solenoids? Is the shift delayed or just hard?
