1998 Chevy Astro quits firing

what causes my astro van to start pinging and knocking when it gets hot, and quit firing, but when it cools off it runs perfect again until it gets hot again? Please note that the crank sensor and the distributor has been replaced, but changed nothing!

check the ignition coil, ignition module, and spark plugs and wires.
