1998 Chevy Astro brakes failure

occasionally i get a strong brake peddle,that makes it had to press on brakes and get the van to stop. It only occures occasionally. A mechanic says it might be a vacum leak in the power assist brakes or failure of the power assist brake system?

Hi there,

he is correct, i would be checking the vacuum check valve in the booster first.
