My vehicle overheated yesterday, and after letting it cool down, adding some water, I was able to llimp home safely. While my van was starting to overheat, I noticed the temp guage would rise only while the van was sitting at a traffic light. So, the next morning, after filling the radiator with water, I ran the vehicle while closely watching the temp guage. When I got back from my test drive, I popped the hood open, and felt different spots around the radiator. About 90% of the radiator felt cool to the touch, while the vehiicle was completely warmed up. I then added some radiator cleaner and some super flush in, ran the van another 12 miles or so,checked the radiator again, and about 2/3 of it was warm/hot to the touch. I ran the van another 9-10 miles in about 80'-90' temperatures, and the temp guage stayed between 190-210. My question is, would the rest of the radiator be cleared out,if I continue to run the super flush and radiator cleaner thru the system for another week or so? The price of a new radiator is $166, and I dont want to spend this if I dont have to. However, I dont want to burn up the engine, for NOT making the $166 investment for the radiator, that I would put in myself. I also know that radiators can be rodded out. Any suggestions or comments would be greatly appreicated.
