How do you replace your ignition & key switch?

The steering wheel needs to be removed. After that, there are a few other things in the steering column that come off and you will have access to the switch. Two notes I must make. One, if you have an air bag, make sure the battery is disconnected for a minimum of 30 minutes before doing anything. It could deploy the air bag if the wrong things are done. I usually let them sit overnight disconnected. Second, if you have a factory anti theft system, the computer will need reprogramed to accept an new key. Otherwise, it won't recognize the key and the engine will not start.
