Q-what is the proper method to disable the
SIR (air bag) on the driver side of a 1996
astro van?

we need to disable the air bag BEFORE
replacing the ignition switch (electrical
assembly.

Disconnect the batter for a minimum of 30 minutes. I always do it the night before so it has all night to sit disconnected.
