1995 Chevy Astro dash showing low oil pressure

hi looking at buying an astro looks good runs fine but on tickover the oil pressure light is flashing, seller assures me its a faulty switch and he has a reciept for a new oil pump he has had fitted does this sound plauseable

Check the oil pressure with a mechanical gauge,if normal replace the oil pressure switch. If abnormal could mean oil pump and engine bearing.
