Electrical problem
1994 Chevy Astro 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic

I do not hear the fuel pump load, my starter does not turn. The volt meter in the van shows low 10 volts.
a hand held meter shows 13V 12V when I have everything turned on. Horn is loud radio plays well again all components turned on battery held at 12V

Charged battery anyway, side mount terminals so they are not corroded. I tried the neutral switch and re set as the Chilton book said.
van does not start in park or neutral. The back up light illuminates.

The purple wire at the solenoid S terminal should be hot with key in the start position. Also, check the starter field terminal for voltage when trying to crank. The field terminal goes from the end of solenoid down into the starter motor housing. Did you check voltage at the battery posts, key in crank position? What was it? If I understand your post correctly, that 12--13 volts is too high with accessories turned on, engine off. I might have to check feed to and from the ignition switch?

It was the starter. With ignition on I checked the voltage under the van I had 12V.

Then I remembered something I learned 34 years ago. With my wife turning the key to START, I whacked the solenoid.

It started to crank the it fired up.

New starter to be ordered in the morning.

Thank you
