Is there something you have to reset after the engine overheats and shuts down?

Did you run it when it was overheating? How far how long?

There is nothing to reset as switch or electrical wise.

My wife was on the highway. Probably a couple of miles before she could pull over. When she did, it just stoped running. It's now acting like there is no spark. Could it be the block?

A few things could have happened, one is the headgasket blew or the head warped cauisng it to not start. Or it could have overheated because the cooling fan wiring harness somehow shorted out on a more important harness.

Either way you should start of checking for spark on all cylinders and for fuel at the fuel rail.
