Engine Performance problem
1992 Chevy Astro 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic

I have measured the output of fuel pump and it was more than my Haynes repair manuel said was needed.

I drained all fuel and refueled with fresh premium grade gas.

I installed a new fuel filter, regulator diaphram, fuel meter gaskets, and fuel injector o rings.

Cranking engine with injectors disconnected allowed no fuel from injectors, then connected injectors and observe fuel from both injectors.
Engine will start but will not stay running. If throttle is opened the rpms will increase momentairly and then cause the engine to die which is the orignal symptom I have had from the beginning. This occured abruptly. I had driven the van to a shop to have a current safety inspection done and engine was running normally but when the person strated the engine to do the test this symptom appeared. He said it may be bad gas which is why I drained the gas and refueled with no change.

What other component can restrict the amount of fuel from the injectors? Or what else could cause my problem? If it is not fuel related?

You have at least 10 psi fuel pressure at the throttle body? Is the check engine light on? What happens if you spray carb cleaner into throttle body when its dying? Will it pick up? At idle is it running normally?

I do not have a pressure gauge but flow rate was more than.5 pint in 15 seconds as per spec. In Haynes manual.

Check engine light is not on.

The engine will not idle normally, and dies if throttle is not opened. If trottle is left opened the engine will die but allowing trottle to close and then reopen alternately will keep engine running although not well.

Sprayring carb cleaner while engine is running causes increase in rpms and runs better which is what makes me think that timing is ok and it is not getting sufficient amout of fuel thru injectors.

OK I will obtain a gauge and check the pressure.
I will let you know how it turns out.

If the pressure is not within spec. Then do I need to change the fuel pump? I think I have done everything to be sure there are no restrictions in the line that is outside of the tank

Thank you
