1988 Chevy Astro Windshield wipers

1988 Chevy Astro 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic 125o00 miles

My windshield wipers come on spontaneously and stay on for about 5-10 minutes and do not turn off when the wiper switch is turned to off. I have had the switch replaced and the problem persists. Could it be a relay? I am not a mechanic and am reluctant to take it to another mechanic who will charge me much $$$$ to maybe fix it. Help.

A faulty wiper motor is most likely the cause of this issue.
