Engine Mechanical problem
1988 Chevy Astro 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic

I have a 1988 Chevy astro who's engine has recently died. This particular make of Astro has a mounting bracket on the engine that is fastened in place with screws. The bracket breaks quite a bit and it's a little bit of a hassle to replace it... not to mention one of the screws broke off inside last time. What I can't seem to find ANYWHERE is whether or not any other Astro engine is compatible with the 88 and if it is, is the bracket welded on there? or is there any other engines by chevy that maybe compatible with the bracket welded onto the engine?

Hi:
The 4.3L is a very popular engine, but I recommend staying with the same year because they seem to change things all of the time.
