1987 Chevy Astro coolant

I have a coolant smell in the cab. I checked the heater core and I don't believe that is the problem.
It smells even if the heater is not on.

Hi there,

Have the cooling system pressure tested d with the heater turned on. This will prove if there is a leak. do this first.
