If you are trying to recharge the AC system, you will need to use the low pressure side for the DIY kit. I have attached pictures as well as some helpful articles:

Okay, my boyfriend he didn't even get to turn the car on . The can or where he connecting it to start to spray out. And he had it on there good he said. Do you know what could be the problem?

If you are trying to recharge the A/C system you will have to start the car and turn the A/C on to MAX. It helps if the recharging bottle comes with a pressure gauge, as too much pressure will make the A/C not work.

Okay, well i guess someone told him he needs a new A/C system. is that hard to put in yourself?

To install a new A/C system it does require few special tools and little bit of know how.
There are several components needs to be changed out, depending on the issue. It could be just the A/C compressor, but then again typically few other items like accumulator, condenser etc. gets changed as well for a deflective A/C system.
