The Check light engine is flashing. What can this mean?

Good morning,
I attached a guide for you for possible reasons for the light flashing. I would have the codes checked to see the faults being stored. A parts store will read the codes for free for you. Please post the codes for us to help you.

The engine has a misfire and the guide will help you determine the possible failure. Checking or replacing the spark plugs would be a good start if they are older than 50,000 miles.
