I got error P0101 and P0303 saying cylinders 1 and 3 were misfiring. When I dropped it off at mechanic the check engine light went off, but I was already there, and I made appointment. Guy said he changed one bad coil and when I dropped it off, I wrote a note saying change oil and spark plugs too. He just called me today saying it's done, and he changed one coil and changed oil. I don't know if he changed all plugs, but I hope and assume he did. He told me day before it would be $750.00. Has his secretary call me and say it's done, and he changed one coil and oil and it's $820.00, am I being ripped off?

P0101 isn't a misfire it's a Mass Airflow Circuit code. P0303 is Cylinder 3 misfire. I would look at what was actually done to it before assuming anything. It's possible the P0101 was also checked/repaired, and they just didn't say anything. As far as the plugs go it's easy to tell as the coils all need to be pulled to change them, just look and see. Pricing is hard to say because of all the variables, like what plugs were used, OE or aftermarket coil, labor rates. All are different. The money difference is likely tax. Just be glad he didn't fill the tank with premium! LOL
