About a week ago, the check engine light turned on in the cold morning, I got it checked by a mechanic and scanner code "PO139" Oxygen censor Bank 1/ sensor 2.
Then I went to Autozone and they diagnosed the same problem, so I bought an O2 sensor to replace it my self.
I took out the oxygen censor from the catalytic converter, but couldn't take out the connector from beneath the passenger seat, so I plugged back the O2 sensor as is (without applying any anti seize or anything), thinking to get it changed by a mechanic, but after a couple of days the engine light has gone off on its own.
Now I am not sure what should I do? Should I get the O2 censor changed any way? Or should just keep going on? Should I put / apply to the O2 censor that I took out and place again?

You ay have fixed it temporarily by moving the connection.

Codes never identify bad parts, just failed systems.

If the light comes on again, have your mechanic look at the readings of the sensor before assuming it is bad. I would apply some anti seize compound to the sensor.
