I got my car listed above about a year ago, it had the check engine light on when I bought it. I was told it was the o2 sensor. We didn't change it at the time, and after a month or so it went off. A couple months ago it came back on, assuming it was the o2 sensor we left it alone and it eventually went off. A couple weeks ago it had come back on, this time I decided to get it checked. At AutoZone I got codes P0606 and P0137. After doing research on P0606, we got and changed the o2 sensor, and the check engine light went off after around 50 miles. The next day I get in it to take my kiddo to school, it's back on. I decided to take it to O'Reillys to get it checked there. I get code P0606 again. We start thinking it's the ECM/PCM, so we start looking into taking it to a dealership. (Which is not what I want to do) After a week or so it went off again. I think I'm in the clear but still confusing. This morning, I get in the car to take my kiddos to school. The light is back on, after a couple hours of sitting I get back in it to pick them up from school and it goes back off. What in the world would cause my check engine light to keep switching on and off? The o2 sensor was a cheaper on so I am going to try and better brand one. What else could be causing my check engine light to do this?

Things you can
1 check ground on ecm and wires leading to the o2 sensors
2. Change o2 sensor 2
3. Change the ecm
Good luck

This sounds like the PCM needs to be replaced, you can get a preprogrammed unit by searching Google or Ebay.

P0606 - ECM/PCM Processor Fault: This code points to an issue within the ECM itself

P0137 - O2 Sensor Circuit Low Voltage (Bank 1, Sensor 2): This code relates to the oxygen sensor after the catalytic converter

Here is the location of the PCM and how to replace it correctly. Check out the images (below). Please let us know what happens.

Hey ya'll! Thank you for the answers! I haven't done anything just yet. I live paycheck to paycheck with a family of 4 lol. Moneys a little tight. When I did my research, I read that a shorted filament on a break light was causing this code, on a 08 corolla. I'll add the screenshot I have. Should I go through and check all of that as well? The car has an aftermarket radio in it that came with the car, could something with that be causing the code? The radio tends to shut off occasionally too. I know this is not what ya'll suggested. I'm just trying everything before I drop a bunch of money!

I don't see how a bulb being shorted can cause this issue, sorry. But I would cycle through the lighting system to make sure they are all working, if you find a problem let me know. Money is tight right now, hang in there. :)
