Got water in gas tank. then check engine light came on. What could the water damage and how to reset and see if it comes back on?

It depends on how much water got into the tank. They make fuel dryers for small amounts, but this doesn't work, you will need to drop the tank and clean it out. Here are instructions on how to do the job. You might be able to remove the fuel pump or sender to reach a syphon hose down into the tank to drain it. This video may help:
