My car listed above has been in the shop twice for various problems including the check engine light.
Two months ago, they replaced the EGR DPFE Sensor. The light came back on within a day and this week they replaced the EGR Vacuum Solenoid. Light came back on again after driving home.

Hi,

Did they provide you with the diagnostic trouble codes found that led them to replace the EGR components? Also, other than the light being on, does the engine run normally or are you having issues with drivability?

Let me know. If you have the codes, I will be more likely able to help.

Take care,

Car runs fine - no issues other than the engine light staying on. And, no codes were provided.

Hi,

What I would suggest is this. We need to know what the codes are. If possible, take it to a parts store and have them scan it for you. Most do it free of charge. Do that and let me know what codes are present. Hopefully, I can help you get things figured out.

Let me know.

Take care,

Joe

Okay, I will try and the codes for you. Also, I forgot to mention that it is due for a smog check this month. Since the light is on does that mean it won't pass a smog check??

Hi,

I'm not sure where you are located. I am in PA. A check engine light automatically fails a vehicle for emission inspection unless it was driven under 5K miles over a year's time.

Let me know.

I'm located in California. Scheduled to take the car in this week to repair shop so they can check the light and clear it. I was told it will not pass smog with the light on.

Hi,

I had a feeling it wouldn't pass. Are you able to get the vehicle checked for codes? It could be something we can fix together. I don't know about CA, but most parts stores will scan it free of charge. It's just a thought.

Let me know.

Take care,

Joe
