Check engine light on codes

1991 LINCOLN TOWN CAR

Check engine light recently turned on. I tried checking what it meant but i got as far as 8 quick flashes and second question same car but 9 quick flashes. can someone please help with this problem? any help is highly appreciated.

They are not codes at all. That is an indication of codes but there needs to be a scan tool used to read the actual codes.

Parts stores will read the codes for free but you need to find one that has the scan tool for OBD 1 systems.

How does the engine run? Is there any issues?
