Check engine light is on code P1447 Diagnostic Module Tank Leakage Pump.

Had it at the mechanic shop and they replaced the valve cover and seal since it was leaking. I told them about the P1447 code, and they told me that could be one of the reasons. They showed me and I saw the leak, so I am not upset for them doing the work, but I questioned if that is the cause for the check engine light. Next day after I got the car back, the light is back on and the same P1447 code is the cause. Was there really a chance that the leaking valve cover could cause the code?

Not really, the P1447 code is for the EVAP system purge occurring when the system is not requesting it, which meant the purge solenoid is stuck on which is common. here is the location of the solenoid so you can check it out and replace it then clear the codes.

Component Location:
The fuel tank ventilation valve is located on the back side of the engine, facing the vehicle bulkhead.

Here is what the valve looks like and the location. Check out the diagrams (below). Please let us know what you find.

Is the location the same on the turbocharged version? Can I see it by opening the hood or do I need to get under and look from behind?

you can not see it just opening the hood. It is under the air filter box, which must be removed to see and access the valve.
