Need to get my truck smogged but the check engine lights on. Cannot seem to find a service book for it either, so I have no clue where to look for the code reader or read the thing when I do find it.

Yours is OBD-I and the diagnostic connector should be in engine compartment, either near the battery, fuse box or air-cleaner
It should be a small black box with a cover that is flipped open, to show something like the diagram.

Most areas will not do a smog check on anything older than 1996 (When OBD2 was made the federal standard). Are you sure that they are going to scan it?
