Please help.

I just got my car out of the shop 2 days ago from getting a new transmission put in. Tonight the check engine light came on and it started running hot. On the dashboard it started saying engine overheated and idle. The temperature went all the way up to the H. Does anyone know what this is?

Clearly we need to take it back to the shop that did the transmission. More than likely if it is related to that, they didn't route a cooling line properly and it is causing a restriction.

If it is not related, we need to know what codes there are in the system and then we need to start going through the cooling system.

Either way, I would highly suggest taking it back because they should figure out what the issue is for you just to make sure they did not cause it. Once we know what they say, you can decide if you want to have them repair it or not.
