Check engine light on

Check engine light came on while driving, but it runs and sounds good.

There are many reasons a check engine light can come on so the only real option is to check what codes are in the modules. If you do not have a scan tool, then most parts stores can pull codes free of charge. Clearly a repair shop can do this as well but they will most likely charge for that.
